The Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus embarks on its seventy-fourth season this year, opening with its Bach Festival, October 17. The Chorus will continue its new concert series Buffalo Sings! Community Concerts alongside its guest appearances with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. Under the direction of its Music Director Doreen Rao, the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus is dedicated to integrating artistry, music education, and community service through singing.

The 2010-2011 season opener features the choral genius of J.S. Bach in an interactive concert lecture and performance conducted by Music Director Doreen Rao. The Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus is joined by members of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra in the performance of Bach’s Magnificat in D Major, BWV 243.

Get closer to the music of Bach during this uniquely interactive and spectacular evening.

Sing-Along Messiah

Join the Chorus and soloists for the “not to be missed” opportunity to SING Handel’s Messiah. Fill St. Stephen's with the joyful sounds of "For Unto Us A Child is Born" and the "Hallelujah" chorus. A free-will offering will be accepted at the door, along with a non-perishable food offering for the Grand Island Neighbors' Foundation.

The Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus is an established symphonic size choir representing a diverse and multi-generational community membership of dedicated musicians. Bound by their love of singing and their commitment to the cultural life of Western New York, the BPC membership represents an impressive array of ages, professions and musical abilities ranging from gifted students to established professionals. A devoted core of volunteer members who love to sing make up the heart of this esteemed ensemble.


 

The Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus is an independent, non-profit organization with more than one hundred auditioned voices and is comprised of skilled and committed singers who continually develop and pursue its tradition of excellence.

The Chorus appears at various locations throughout Western New York including Kleinhans, Artpark, Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo Museum of Science, Our Lady of Victory Basilica, and the Chautauqua Institution.
