The Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus is dedicated to sharing the love of choral music and singing with younger WNY generations through education and mentorship opportunities.
The BPC has continued to support arts education in the WNY community through our High School Aspiring Voices program, formerly known as Choral Affiliates. During most seasons, the BPC invites WNY high school music teachers to recommend two of their best vocal students to join our singers for a performance at Kleinhans Music Hall with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. Student nominations are reviewed, and once accepted, the students are paired with a current member to serve as their mentor throughout the rehearsal as and performance.
Are you a high school teacher interested in nominating two of your outstanding students? Please reach out to education@bpchorus.org if you have any questions or for more information!
Past Aspiring Voices performances have included:
William Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast conducted by JoAnn Falletta, Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana conducted by JoAnn Falletta, the BPO’s Memorial Day concert, An American Salute, conducted by John Morris Russell, Mozart's Coronation Mass conducted by JoAnn Falletta, and most recently, JoAnn's Classical Christmas in 2023, which will be reprised for this program in 2024.
