Dear Friends of the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus,
We are reaching out with an important update for the upcoming season. Our Music Director, Adam Luebke, has informed us of his intention to step down from his position later this summer. Since his appointment in January 2015, Dr. Luebke has been an invaluable leader of the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus and has been instrumental in fulfilling our mission and strengthening our presence in the WNY community.
During Dr. Luebke’s 10-year tenure, he has led the BPC to new artistic heights, including significant accomplishments such as winning the 2020 GRAMMY Award for Best Choral Performance, performing at Carnegie Hall and The Met Cloisters in New York City, and the growing recognition of the BPC as a top-tier, volunteer symphonic chorus. His expertise and commitment to the WNY singing community, our education and engagement initiatives, as well as his passion for symphonic choral music, will be sorely missed.
The BPC will continue our normal rehearsal schedule to prepare for the upcoming season, featuring choral masterworks such as Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s St. John Passion, Mozart’s Mass in C Minor and Orff’s Carmina Burana. We expect to launch a formal search for our next Music Director later this summer.
We are excited that Dr. Luebke will return to Buffalo this holiday season to conduct our Western New York holiday tradition: Handel’s Messiah. This will be a wonderful opportunity for everyone in our community to thank Dr. Luebke for his decade of service to the BPC and to the WNY music community.
While we will miss having Dr. Luebke on the podium each week, we are grateful for the time he has spent as our leader and wish him and his family great success as they embark on their next chapter.
We look forward to your continued support and patronage this season, and welcome any questions you may have regarding this leadership transition.
Sincerely,
West Richter, Jr. – President and Board Chair
Eli Campbell – Executive Director
